Sir P.S. Sivaswami Ayyar is a great legend in the sphere of education in that he gave all that
he had to promote, sustain and perpetuate a school for boys at Tirukattupalli, Thanjavur, and
a girls school at Mylapore - Lady Sivaswami Ayyar Girls' Higher Secondary School.
It is worth noting that he sold away his magnific palatial house to finance the Girls' School at
Mylapore and lived in a rented house in the evening years of his life.

On 7th February 1989, The National Boys' and Girls' Education Society celebrated
the 125th year of his birth in a fitting manner. The Society also decided to set another milestone
in his memory by starting a new school. The school is housed in 'Sudharma', a building that
stands on Sundareswarar Street, off East Mada Street of Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple,Mylapore.
This building was built to commemorate the birth centenary of the late Sir.P.S Sivaswami Ayyar.
